The Seven Keys to More Confidence

Confidence is attractive and a terrific asset for creating success. We love being around confident leaders and confident people. Most of us wish we had a bit more of it. You may be confident in some areas and not in others or maybe your overall confidence has been shaken recently.

The key to confidence is to understand that this is an area that can grow and improve in your life with even just a small amount of attention. Focus on building your confidence and you will start seeing results.

Here are some steps for growing your confidence level.

1.Remember that as a young child, you were born confident. Do you remember singing at the top of your lungs? Or asking any question that you wanted to ask? Or being confident enough to try just about anything?

2. Remind yourself of your limitless potential. You can learn how to do just about anything that you want to do.

3. Use positive words to describe yourself (especially during your self-talk).

4. Affirm confidence (especially at night before you go to bed).

5. Create a series of achievements. It’s okay to start small. You can build on each achievement so you begin to feel a positive track record.

6. Be around other positive and confident people. Instead of being intimidated by confidence, get inspired and spend time around people who exude confidence.

7. Take action. Become an expert in your field and areas of interest. Learn from other experts. Practice your skills. If you want more clients, become a master of understanding what your clients want. If you want more financial freedom, become an expert at understanding how to grow your money and how to attract opportunities. If you want better relationships, become an expert at interpersonal communications. If you want to master your health, become an expert.

Confidence is something we call can have, yet few truly do. As you build confidence (and no, I am not talking about arrogance), you will see your life grow and change in a more positive direction.

In Happiness,

  1. Lovely tips and suggestions. Confidence is “sexy” and people want to be around confident people. Sometimes it takes only one small success to bring forth a new sense of confidence yet we must take a few risks now and then to achieve that success.

  2. As we get older and more self conscience I think we can kind of lose a little bit of the confidence we had as a child. Using positive words to describe myself and others is something I strive to do as well. These are all great tips on how to be confident, very insightful article!

  3. Awesome and very motivational post! I do believe that confidence is key and can get you just about anywhere. Recently I got a new job. I think the number one factor that helped me get that job was my confidence and the fact that I knew what I was talking about because I made it my business to learn as much as I could about the new job I was applying to. Knowledge and becoming an expert really was the key to my confidence!

  4. I love that first point! You’re so right, we are confident as children and over time others take that confidence away from us and we become shy. I remember in year1 (age 6) I had a nasty teacher (who has now been barred from teaching children for her behaviour) I always used to ask questions if I didn’t understand so that I could understand, she hated this so she would yell at me that I was a “stupid girl” on a near daily basis and over time I stopped asking questions because I was too afraid. But We aren’t always this way, we are made that way by others. Great post!

    1. Hi Ellie,
And your awareness that it was this experience for you that made you stop asking questions- that then provides the undoing of the pattern.

  5. Surround yourself with positive people. This indeed is so true. The last few weeks at work was hectic. I was surrounded by bullies and people who make others look incompetent for them to look good. I must admit, i really was feeling low about myself. However I realized that I am not stupid and I dont need to make a noise to be notice. I lead with grace and elegance and work to the best of my ability

  6. Thank you for this. Self confidence is something I think we all struggle with sometimes, I definitely do. But when you take certain steps like these into consideration, it can become easier to conquer 🙂
