Happy 12 days of Christmas!
Welcome to this year’s holiday blogging event. It’s that time of year on my blog where I post every day for 12 days with inspiration, motivation, blessings, and strategies for you as you live each day of your amazing life and as you create your own unique path to success. Each day, I will also include special offers, a freebies, quick audio to lift your spirits and inspire you.
Please join my free facebook group and comment on each day’s blog.
The rules for the drawing: You can comment on the facebook group and/or the blog. Every time you comment or share the day’s blog on social media your name will go into a drawing for a $75 Amazon gift card (up to ten entries per person per day). The drawing will be held after the 12-day event is over on Dec 26. In order to keep track of social media shares, please post in the facebook group where and how many comments/shares you have each day.
Day 1 Stay Sane and Happy During Your Holidays
If you are like most people, the Holiday Season is filled with extra activities, gatherings, and other tasks. Yet you still have your carpools, commutes, jobs, and everything else that goes along with your everyday life. This time of the year can be special, not stressful because you have tried to pack too much into your days. My time and stress management strategies during the Holidays include the following:
Be realistic in your expectations: Realize that everything you do takes some amount of time. When you plan your shopping, wrapping presents, or other projects-look at your week, have you blocked out the time? Can one human being possibly accomplish everything that you have planned? If not, eliminate, restructure, or delegate.
Set aside time for the important things: If you have an important work deadline or home project make sure that you have created time for it.
Evaluate and prioritize. The point is that you do not have to say “yes” to every opportunity that arises in your life. Choose to do the things that truly have a value for you in your life.
Do one thing at a time: To all the multi-taskers out there–you are not being as effective as you could be if you did one thing at a time. Now, sometimes multitasking is unavoidable, but for the most part, you do have control over whether you tackle things one at a time or try to do multiple tasks at once. By focusing on one thing, you have a higher level of concentration and will be able to accomplish more in a shorter amount of time.
Avoid procrastination: Most procrastination stems from fear-fear of the unknown or fear of not accomplishing something successfully. Overcoming procrastination involves one simple idea-just start. Start your task with some activity or aspect of the project. Remember that saying, “a body in motion tends to stay in motion”?
Practice Self-Care. Rest. Exercise. Eat nutritious food. Take your supplements. Hit the spa. Create calm.
Give Generously. Consider upping your giving. I know you are already a kind, generous person. Giving in a new way takes your mind off disappointments that inevitably occur. Someone can’t make it home. Gifts don’t arrive on time. Etc.
Acknowledge sadness and other painful emotions. If you have lost people in your life, the Holiday Season can trigger sadness. This is normal and you will create more inner peace if you let yourself cry if you feel like it and remember your loved ones. And not everyone has great Christmas memories. If you grew up with addictions, dysfunction or abuse, perhaps the holidays were very difficult. Notice your feelings. Give yourself the space to be aware of bittersweet thoughts.
Have fun. See things through a child’s eyes. Notice the wonder and merriment. Try something new.
Live joyfully: truly enjoy the Holiday Season. Appreciate and be thankful for your friends, your family, your home, your vehicle, your job….the list could go on and on. Be in a state of gratitude and love. Live joyfully!
