Happy February and Happy Valentine’s. There is a lot to celebrate! One of my two favorite teams (the Broncos) won Super Bowl 50, after being huge underdogs. The lesson here is that you can create your own story and don’t need to listen to any naysayers out there in your own life. You can do things that “you shouldn’t be able to do.”
Here is a pic with Peyton, my hubby, son and me at a Broncos practice last fall of 2015.
Besides, the super-bowl, February is a month of love for me, my birthday, my anniversary (23 years), one of my daughters’ birthday, and Valentine’s Day are all packed into one month. I have been celebrating through getting creative. I did two paint nights and absolutely loved putting a brush to canvas, which I have not done since about middle school. I also have been re-learning calligraphy ( I took a class in high school, – yes, years ago), and one of my wonderful clients sent me an adult coloring book from The Coloring Project, and I have been chilling out with markers and colored pencils. My son is also taking a photography class in High School right now, so we purchased a new camera, and it’s been fun to get to know the camera and take pics with something other than a cell-phone.
My true art is writing and I often write poems to relax, but I have loved being a novice and just fooling around and being creative in new, fun ways. It boosts my energy and clears my thinking. I even persuaded my husband to come to a paint night, and his comment afterward was- “This is the best date in a thousand dates!”
The best part of my birthday this year is that… I had another birthday. In July, when I was on a ventilator for two days, my family wasn’t sure I would make it. But, I had a lot to live for… and knew I wanted more time on this earth. When death was that close, I went into the light and back; life changes dramatically. Little bothers me. I am on a mission to do and be everything I have ever wanted to do and be. I even bought the car of my dreams that I put on a goal poster 7 years ago. I sold my reliable and practical mini-van after 7 years of carpooling and road trips and bought my Mercedes- I named her Zoey. The point wasn’t just to get a new car, it was about allowing myself to have something I really wanted. What was I waiting for? I realized I was kind of waiting for the Mercedes fairy to come to me and say- “It’s time to get your Mercedes”. Isn’t that funny? How many other areas in my life was I acting the same way? And how many areas in your life are you just hanging around and waiting for “permission”?
What are you waiting for? Live like you are living!
Tim McGraw sings a song (one of my favorites) Live like you were dying. Who knows, I might try skydivingiving. But I like the phrase, live like you are living. It means just about the same thing. But when I woke up after being unconscious for 12 hours, I was flooded with euphoria and the thoughts. “I’m alive! I’m alive! God is so good!” I didn’t say or think, “I am so glad I am not dead.”
Every day, since I woke up after stopping breathing and going into the light, I have repeated to myself, “Live like you are really living.” That means no pettiness, no settling, lots of hugs, lots of close conversations with people I love, doing things I have always dreamed of doing.
There is nothing particularly different about me, than you… If I can thrive and be healed and have a miraculous healing, you can too… You can have whatever miracle you are looking for.
I also figured out, it is not about breathing and being here on earth, it’s about what you do with each moment, with each minute, with each day.
My new course, Living Your Joy, has yielded some amazing results. During the course, one of the students signed papers for her new house after many unpredictable twists and turns; another filled the biggest order she has had to date in her business; another was invited to be a guest on a radio show, and these are just a few examples. Living Your Joy is a 4 week, go at your own pace eCourse with webinars, exercises, and worksheets- Learn more here
