How is your 2022 going so far? Someone asked me what my greatest accomplishment of the year so far was…and I felt like saying…surviving. My daughter got married in January on the beach and it was a joy-filled week in Florida (pics below), It was beautiful to gather our families together and be part of their love story. It was one of the rare occasions where all six of our kids and three grandchildren were all together at one time. All of the planning came together for a wonderful ceremony and reception on Clearwater Beach. When we returned home, I think I slept for a week.
Then in February my son’s best friend unexpectedly passed away. This young man grew up across the street from us. I was grieving on three levels…for the loss of this young man, for my son’s loss, and for the parents. I came across a comforting phrase- Grief makes your heart grow bigger. I am filled with awe and wonder when I notice that I can experience profound grief and joy and laughter all in the same day. Grief is another side of love. I have loved deeply in my life and grief is part of that deep love. I am thankful for all of the love in my life. I pray for all grieving people and anyone suffering. My prayers continue for Europe, Ukraine, and the safety of the World.
