Today’s Topic: Inner Game Reset
Do you ever wish you had a reset button and you could just push it and you would instantly shift into thinking more positive thoughts and taking the action steps you want to take? Your inner game is the part that other people don’t necessarily see, but it is the driving force to your success. When you see people out there that are doing some of the things you want to be doing, you are seeing their results, but you are not seeing their inner game.
How cool would it be to jump into successful people’s minds and experience their thought processes? I have been studying success mindset and success inner game for over 20 years. I admit I haven’t mastered the technique to jump into someone else’s mind, but through research and thousands of conversations, I have learned a lot about what it takes to achieve success. The main difference between people who achieve success and those that struggle with achieving goals, is mindset.
Successful people know that your habits change when you change your mind. You think differently, then you act differently. Successful people also know that they can control the way that they think.
Also, most successful people have experienced some struggle in their lives, but they just didn’t give up or they tried a different path using the lessons learned during the struggle. What if absolutely everything you have experienced has prepared you for your ultimate success?
No matter what is going on, you can create an inner game reset where you switch to more empowering thoughts and actions. Here are a few simple steps for you to move toward resetting your inner game.
Practice being still. When you get quiet, you allow your inner voice to come forward. It’s simple, turn off the noise (all the background noise). Close your eyes. You know you have gotten there when you can hear the quiet spaces between the hum of a fan. Be willing to be still and quiet for even a few minutes.
Release anger. Anger is messy and blocks your good that is coming to you. Anger holds you back. One of the biggest ways it holds you back is when you feel you are somehow justified and have a right to be angry. When you feel this way, you hold onto it even longer and it eats away at your happiness. You can release anger through journaling, meditation, and/or prayer. You may also want to talk to an objective person about it. When I first opened my eyes after my near death experience, I was elated that I was still alive, but after that excitement wore off, I was angry and scared about my diagnosis. I knew I wouldn’t heal if I kept focusing on angry thoughts. I deliberately worked to release the anger and embrace positive healing thoughts and I did experience a miraculous healing.
Let go. You have probably heard the expression, “Let go and let God.” Trust the Universe. When you shift your mindset and take positive actions, let go of the results. Allow peace to enter your heart. When you know you did everything you could; it’s time to let go and let the results appear. An example of this is when you decide you want to be healthier (mindset shift) and then you eat better and exercise more (action steps). Then don’t weigh yourself every hour. Let go. Know you are thinking and doing the right things. Weigh yourself at a reasonable interval and/or use measurements or go by how you look and feel.
Have fun. Life is meant to be fun. Enjoy your moments. If you are only looking at some future result such as: paying off debt, losing weight, buying a house, having kids, waiting for your kids to grow up and go to college, getting the next job, finishing school… (I could keep going here) you are never focused on today, the present moment. Enjoy what you are doing now. If you are not enjoying what you are doing now, could you change your attitude about it? Or what could you do to make it more fun?
Be the energy of what it is that you want. If your goal is to finish school, ask yourself, “What would a graduate of this program be doing and thinking right now?” or if you want to grow your business, “What would a multi 7 figure business owner do in my situation right now?” Whatever your goal is, be that energy. What do I mean by this? I’ll provide some contrast. It’s common for people to say, I’ll take pride in what I have when I have more. The truth is that if you take care of what you have right now and respect what you have, you are being in the energy of having what you really want. Treat your ten your old car like it is a brand new car, keep it clean and shiny. Take care of your starter home or apartment like it is your absolute dream home. If you want to charge more for your services, treat your current clients like they are million dollar clients.
If you practice these techniques, you will reset your inner game. You will program yourself for the life you want.

Inner Game – Bring it on!
Being Still -I practice meditation each morning- I love to concentrate on that spot between the in breath and the out breath.
Release Anger – I never hold it in – I am very lucky. I got this in my DNA – I just don’t get angry – if I do feel it (which is seldom). I bitch about something then it just goes away. Sometimes I need to Bitch to my best friend Carol. This helps me.
Let it go used to be tough for me because I like control and to control my destiny. But, after some horrible times in my life I realize that I am NOT in control. So, I love the fact that I CAN now let it go and imagine the best – Trust in the Universe is tough but I am still working on this!
Have fun?!!! My middle name is fun. Enough said!
The energy I want now is…. OUTRAGEOUS ABUNDANCE!!!! Feel that energy! Pow! Bam! Ohhhh La La! That is it!!! Wooooo Hoooo. That is some mega powerfully high in the the sky vibration! Wheeeeeeee!
Lori, You are so much fun!
I love how your message always seem to resonate! Presently this is exactly what I’m enjoying the journey of…. even finding joy in the struggles that arise. The struggle can remind us to keep our hand firmly pressed on that reset button with intentional focus.
With mindful letter writing – (some get burnt, some get saved), and my joy of photography on each adventure – I find this helps get present, release emotional ‘ughs’ and inspires perseverance in finding and establishing ‘self’… letting go to receive new beauties…. etc.. etc. I know I can not go on an adventure with my camera not return feeling inspired and renewed. Fun, inspiring, and empowing! What we focus on grows!
Thank you for your encouragement! ?
Robyn, I love that you are seeing joy in the struggle. Everything that we experience in life is preparing us for something amazing.
So many good reminders – be in the here and now, don’t wait for ….. to happen before you are happy.
Yes- present moment:)
Hi Sheri,
Thank you for writing this. It was has been a long time since I asked questions about the inner game. It is the first time anyone has properly addressed what it is and how to manage it. As life went on, I discovered the inner game as you explained it and pleased to read your article to confirm it. I appreciate you.

Thank you Derek:)
Hi Sheri
I appreciate all the tools you have shared making it much easier for me to reset and keep moving forward.
Great article. It took some time, patience and practice, however understanding the importance of releasing anger is one of my favorite lessons you have taught me.
I appreciate you.
Bonnie
And life is so much better when anger is released and does not have a hold on you:)
