Win the Day: Get What You Want Done
If you want to experience more success in your life, discover what wins the day for you and do them first. These win the day actions are usually simple, but vital. For example, a win the day action might be getting up when your alarm clock goes off instead of hitting the snooze button, it might be waking up earlier, it might be going to the gym right when you wake up, it could be writing for an hour every day. It could be writing in your journal, or following up with potential clients. Or maybe it is a combination of these actions.
Reflect on what a win the day action or set of actions is for you. What are the crucial action steps for you? Hint: these are usually things with which you tend to procrastinate. Another hint: these are things that if you did them consistently, you would reap huge rewards like get fit and healthy, write a book, attract ideal clients, and/or make money/difference.
When you know your “win the day actions” and do them, the rest of the day is frosting on the cake. I like having the most important things for the day accomplished by 10 am in the morning. You will have days when you don’t feel like getting up and doing them, and these are the days that make the biggest difference. When you transcend “I don’t feel like it” into “I do what is most important whether I feel like it or not” you move into a zone of high performance, high confidence, and high happiness. When we consistently break promises to ourselves, we are less happy and less confident. It is actually much easier to create small daily habits than to let things go and then try to do everything at once to make up for consistency.

As you shift to a “win the day” mindset and take your highest priority actions steps, you most likely will have moments when you slip back into a more comfortable state. This is normal. This is the process. Gently get back on track and don’t look at the past even if the past was an hour ago or a day ago. As T.S. Eliott says, “Every moment is a fresh beginning.”
