Day 4 Merry Christmas Eve
Aaaahhhh. A huge breath in and out. If you celebrate Christmas, all of the planning, shopping, wrapping, cooking, baking, sending out cards, and whatever else you do is most likely coming together. You might have a few extra gifts to wrap and some last minute items. I experience the same feeling on Christmas Eve that I get when I finish a project in my business- satisfaction, joy in seeing it all come together, and reveling in the moment.
Sometimes you might even have the experience of forgetting something or worrying whether everything will turn out okay . This is when an appreciation list comes in handy. Grab your journal or a piece of paper and give yourself a few minutes. Write down everything that you appreciate right now in this moment. My list goes something like this:
I appreciate that I could spend time with my daughter helping her pick out last minute Christmas gifts (and even spoiling her with a new sweater and boots).
I appreciate that my teenage son vacuumed.
I appreciate talking with my parents every day.
I appreciate the lights on my tree.
I appreciate seeing my cat in her new Christmas sweater.
I appreciate all of the texts, emails, and phone calls from people wishing me Merry Christmas.
I appreciate my kind neighbors.
I appreciate my friends….and I could go on and on… As I make this list, my heart feels so full and I feel great. All is well. There is so much to appreciate.
I appreciate Christmas music and the candlelight service.
All of this appreciation is a major part of feeling more joy every day. It doesn’t need to be Christmas. This is part of my daily practice of happiness.
I would love to hear some of the things on your appreciation list. Please share in the comment section.
