12 Days of Joy Day 8

Increase your joy in your life by deciding you want more joy. Happiness and joy come from within. No amount of outer achievements, accomplishments, or wealth accumulation will create joy for you. Sustainable joy comes from within.

I remember going through a period in my life where I would go to sleep and wonder if I would wake up in a good mood or not. It seemed out of my control. Some days I would wake up full of energy and happiness and other days I would wake up in a “mood”. I began a quest to find out how to be happy and to learn what made people happy. After years of studying happiness, the truth is stunningly simple. Joy and happiness are daily choices.

I learned that I could be happy if I decided to be happy. I also learned that there were certain rituals that set me up for more happiness, peace, and joy in my day.

I learned to start my day with appreciation. I write an appreciation list every day. I write out positive affirmations. I start each day with prayer. I also light candles, use incense, and essential oils. I say thank you at every opportunity.  These rituals are grounding and help me be centered. I have worked with many clients over the years to help them bring more joy into their personal lives and their businesses.

  1. i like to start the day w. 10 minutes of meditation. still, i do not do it as regularly as i should.

  2. There was period of time where I was completing a gratitude journal in the morning. Can’t remember why I stopped, but looking back I do know it made a difference in my day. Time to start that habit again.
